The Genesis of GRGS
Growing up in Australia, I wanted to play collegiate golf in the United States and then turn professional. At the time, the internet was not yet mainstream and smart phones didn’t exist. To keep track of my game, I kept handwritten scores and stats on hundreds of scorecards and eventually developed my own Excel spreadsheet system. My data existed only on my computer and no one else could access or see it but me. College coaches had no way of discovering me, and I had no idea how to get recognized by them.
After completing my traineeship with the PGA of Australia in 2010, I came to the United States to pursue a professional playing career. I realized very quickly that I needed to know more about my game, not just the basic stats. Excel spreadsheets weren’t working for me anymore and I couldn’t find anything out there that was as good as ShotLink® on the PGA Tour. When I volunteered as a walking scorer at a Nationwide Tour event in 2012, I saw how archaic the scoring and data collection system was. From this, I realized I wanted to create a cloud and mobile system for ALL golfers to have access to. This was the beginning of GET REAL GOLF STATS.
In today’s connected world where we have access to information instantly at our fingertips, I have a vision for a global golf data platform that transforms the way we watch, teach, track, recruit and play the game of golf.
GET REAL GOLF STATS is that vision come to life.
